  • The Dark Commandery was an army of evil creatures mentioned in Might and Magic: The Dreamwright and Might and Magic: The Shadowsmith. They were usually found in the Aulmad, but sometimes entered the Siccative as well. During the time of Hitch and Diligence, some remnants of the commandery still haunted the area. When Diligence's caravan came near the Aulmad on their way to Paddifraw's Repose, Welleck listed the "blind remnants of the Dark Commanderies, mustering in the night gardens" as one of the monsters they might run into. Shortly afterwards, some of the scouts saw a great battle in a basin ahead, while the next set of scouts saw nothing. Welleck suggested that they had seen a "detachment of the Dark Commandery at their grim sport", or had come too close to a trammeler's nest. When the caravan later traveled through the Siccative on their way back to The Wheel, they saw a traveling party in distress. They wondered if the strangers were victims of dry pirates, or had been attacked by "some remnant of the Dark Commanderies". They approached them to help, powershots ready in case it was a trap set by dry pirates or eviscerators, but discovered to their horror that it was actually a well-planned ambush by Dubiel's soldiers, led by Lord Grott.
