Demidaemons are hybrids of spirit and another (usually human), mundane ancestry, appearing in the myth·corpi of many cultures, but belief in them and the recording of new instances to which the attribute is assigned have dropped precipitously with the spread of Western, 'epistemic' paradigms. Demidæmons are differentiated from demideities on the grounds that the dæmonic and divine that provide half of the parentage are differentiated (although, of course, both parentages may appear in the same individual).

  • Demidaemons are hybrids of spirit and another (usually human), mundane ancestry, appearing in the myth·corpi of many cultures, but belief in them and the recording of new instances to which the attribute is assigned have dropped precipitously with the spread of Western, 'epistemic' paradigms. Demidæmons are differentiated from demideities on the grounds that the dæmonic and divine that provide half of the parentage are differentiated (although, of course, both parentages may appear in the same individual). Like all affairs regarding the ability of per definitionem immaterial entities with the material world, With the spread of Christianity, dæmons in general were identified with evil and, likewise, the only instance of descent from human and daemon parentage were considered to be those of human and cacodaemonic union. They are the result of sexual intercourse of a human male and a succubus, or of an incubus and a human female. Because in the viewpoint of this legend, demons are unable to reproduce naturally (note that this also implies that _any_ demon from christian legend is unable to reproduce naturally, hence precluding human-demon hybrids of any kind if demons from christian lore are involved), the creation of a cambion is as follows: A succubus, during a sexual encounter with a human male, will acquire his sperm, which she will then pass on to an Incubus. The Incubus, in turn, will pass on this sperm to a human female during a sexual encounter. Since this artificial insemination by the details presented should result in nothing else but an ordinary human child, it is propable the semen is in some way processed. However, this is omitted in the legend. are a hybrid species of Demon and Human. A more 'traditional' term for a human-demon hybrid would perhaps be Cambion, but the Cambion of folklore and the Demonite differ in the way they are created. The Cambion is biologically created by Succubi and Incubi demons inseminating humans. The Demonites are rather a seperate species that was split off from humanity by artificially merging demons with humans - the origins of the Demonites lie in obscurity though, but it is commonly assumed that they were created by the The Empire during the Great War. One could also say Cambioni and Demonites differ in their society because of their different origins. While definitely an entire species, Lulu Cypher is the only known member of the species (the only individual demonite character ever to appear in Random Kingdom), though numerous others likely exist. It is possible that this can be explained by the other Demonites having long left Earth to dwell with their purely infernal brethren in Hell, although this is not supported by source materials. Demonites also differ from the folkloric Cambioni in their appearance - Cambioni in folklore simply appear as very beautiful humans, whereas Demonites have several obviously demonic anatomical characteristics. One should note, however, that Cambioni in Random Kingdom, even though so far none have appeared, would also be depicted with demonic anatomical characteristics, like Demonites.
