- Doug Smith (born May 17, 1963 in Ottawa, Ontario) is a retired former professional player who played for the Los Angeles Kings, Buffalo Sabres, Edmonton Oilers, Vancouver Canucks and Pittsburgh Penguins over the course of his career. He was selected second overall in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft by the Los Angeles Kings.
- Douglas ("Doug") Smith (born September 17 1969 in Detroit, Michigan) is a retired American Basketball player who was selected by the Dallas Mavericks in the 1st round (6th overall) of the 1991 NBA Draft. Smith played in five NBA seasons, for the Mavericks (1991-95) and the Boston Celtics (1995-96) and averaged 8.0 ppg in his career. He was selected by the Toronto Raptors in the 1995 Expansion draft, but was released by them before he played in any games. Doug Smith also played for the American in the 1990 FIBA World Championship, winning the bronze medal.

- Douglas ("Doug") Smith (born September 17 1969 in Detroit, Michigan) is a retired American Basketball player who was selected by the Dallas Mavericks in the 1st round (6th overall) of the 1991 NBA Draft. Smith played in five NBA seasons, for the Mavericks (1991-95) and the Boston Celtics (1995-96) and averaged 8.0 ppg in his career. He was selected by the Toronto Raptors in the 1995 Expansion draft, but was released by them before he played in any games. Smith is a 1987 graduate of Detroit's Mackenzie High School (Michigan); he played collegiate basketball for the University of Missouri, where his number 34 is retired. Doug Smith also played for the American in the 1990 FIBA World Championship, winning the bronze medal.
