Jon: I see. Lets cheer Tyler one together! Lance: A fire type against an Ice type. Tyler has thought this through. Nate: Jon and Tyler are complete opposites in some situations. Jon uses whatever Pokemon and finds a way of getting it done, while Tyler thinks about his strategies and which Pokemon will work well against which. Pryce: You can have the first move. Tyler: Dragon Dance! Jon: Increasing his speed and attack off the bat. Nate: He has seen how Sneasel works when you battled him. Lance: But using Dragon Dance could mean Tyler wishes to win this with just Charmeleon. Jon: If that is his strategy then it’s not a good one when Dewgong and Cloyster appear. Pryce: Raising your stats already. Tyler: Now Flamethrower! Pryce: Ice Punch! Tyler: Argh! Quilava: Lava? Jon: Good work by Pryce. Lance: Good idea I agree. Jon: Throws Tyler off his game straight away. And Pryce will attack next. Nate: What makes you think that? Pryce: Not attacking? Shame. Sneasel, Iron Tail! Tyler: Charmeleon! Tyler: Glad you’re alright. Pryce: So what next kiddo. Tyler: Dragon Rush! Pryce: Ice Punch! Pryce: Now, use Beat Up! Referee: Charmeleon is unable to battle, Sneasel wins. Tyler: Thanks Charmeleon. Quilava: Lava, Quil. Jon: I agree. That’s going to affect Tyler’s battle more than he’ll let on. Lance: Using Ice Punch to counter Dragon Rush was a great idea as Ice type moves are super effective against Dragon type moves and Dragon types. Nate: Charmeleon getting flung into the air gave Sneasel to perfect time to use Beat Up. Jon: What is Beat Up anyway? Lance: Beat Up is a move which allows every Pokemon in the party to hit. Nate: Since Pryce has five Pokemon, Sneasel was allowed to hit five times. Jon: So it’s like Fury Swipes but not randomised? Lance: Yes, in a sense. Pryce: So what you going to do next kid? Tyler: I’m Tyler, not kid! Jon: Has he lost it?! Nate: Beat Up is the only super effective move he has against Gastly. Lance: Maybe Tyler has a good plan against Sneasel. Pryce: A Gastly now then. Tyler: Use Thunderbolt! Pryce: Ice Punch quick! Tyler: Good work, now use Double Team! Jon: Is Gastly evolving? Lance: Yes. Tyler: Gastly evolved into a Haunter. Tyler’s Pokedex: Haunter, the gas Pokemon, and the evolved form of Gastly. Haunter is a dangerous Pokemon. If one beckons you while floating in darkness, you must never approach it. This Pokemon will try to lick you with its tongue and steal your life away. Tyler: And a new move. Pryce: So Gastly evolved. Sneasel use Ice Beam! Tyler: Dodge and then use your new move, Shadow Ball! Referee: Sneasel is unable to battle, Haunter is the winner. Tyler: Great work Haunter. Pryce: Thank you Sneasel. Tyler: Water battlefield. Pryce: Go, Dewgong! Tyler: Dewgong is next then. Pryce: Go underwater! Tyler: That isn’t going to help. Pryce: How won’t it? Tyler: Thunderbolt! Tyler: What?! Pryce: Now Water Pulse! Referee: Haunter is unable to battle, Dewgong wins. Tyler: Thanks Haunter. Pryce: Now who next? Tyler: Um. Jon: Tyler’s only water type is Croconaw, though I know he wouldn’t want to use it yet. Lance: What other Pokemon does he have at the moment? Jon: Croconaw, Kabutops, Tyrogue and Miltank. Nate: So he could use Kabutops. Jon: Could yeah. Tyler: Kabutops, go! Pryce: Kabutops eh. Dewgong, use Water Pulse. Tyler: Dodge it. Pryce: Now Ice Beam! Tyler: Kabutops, use X-Scissor. Pryce: Now Water Pulse! Tyler: Aqua Jet! Pryce: Ice Beam! Tyler: Kabutops! Quilava: Lava! Referee: Both Dewgong and Kabutops are unable to battle. Pryce: So you only have two left. Tyler: Cloyster now. Pryce: So Croconaw now. Jon: I know this isn’t the time that Tyler wanted to use Croconaw. Pryce: Now Cloyster, Shell Smash! Nate: Right off the bat? Lance: He may be testing Croconaw and Tyler. Tyler: So maximised attack already. Pryce: Now, Poison Jab! Tyler: Dragon Claw! Pryce: Take Down! Pryce: Now Poison Jab! Tyler: Croconaw! Jon: Isn’t that Brick Break? Nate: Yeah. Tyler: That was Brick Break! Good work Croconaw! Croconaw: Naw. Referee: Cloyster is unable to battle. Tyler: Take some rest Croconaw. Pryce: So two Pokemon each now. Pryce: A Miltank. Tyler: Ice Beam! Pryce: you too! Pryce: Now, Brick Break! Tyler: Gyro Ball! Pryce: Present! Tyler: Miltank! Pryce: Now, Brick Break! Tyler: Rollout! Referee: Delibird is unable to battle. Pryce: To think I believe I sussed you out. Tyler: I was a bit wobbly in the beginning but now I’m all good. Miltank return! Pryce: Croconaw again. Both your Pokemon have battled where Mamoswine hasn’t. Tyler: That doesn’t matter. Pryce: Confident. Tyler: Now, Aqua Tail! Tyler: Nothing?! Pryce: Ancient Power! Pryce: Now, use Blizzard! Pryce: Now what? Tyler: Brick Break! Jon: No, that’s what he wants! Pryce: Stone Edge! Tyler: Croconaw! Pryce: Hidden Power! Tyler: Croconaw! Get up! Pryce: How much longer can your Croconaw take attacks from Mamoswine? Quilava: Lava, Quilava! Quilava: Lava, Quilava Quil. Lava! Croconaw: Naw, Croconaw! Tyler: What is that? Pryce: Seems like Quilava has helped Croconaw. Seems like its Torrent ability has activated. Tyler: Nice. Let’s win this Croconaw. Pryce: Hidden Power! Tyler: Aqua Tail! Tyler: Dragon Claw! Tyler: Now Awua Tail! Referee: Mamoswine is unable to battle, Croconaw wins! And the match goes to Tyler. Pryce: Thanks Mamoswine, you done well. Pryce: You earned this, the Glacier Badge. Nate: Good battle Tyler. Tyler: Thanks. Whose next? Jon: Someone in Blackthorn City. Lance: Her name is Clair and she specialises in Dragon Type Pokemon. Tyler: Interesting. So shall we go? Jon: Yeah. When will we next meet? Lance: Soon. Nate: I’ve got to look after the ranch for a while, but I’ll be there when you and Tyler compete in the Pokemon League watching. Jon: Thanks, and we’ll be there.
