An elementary boson is a particle with an integer spin that can not be further decomposed into smaller particles. There are thirteen known types of elementary bosons in the universe, with an additional boson that has not yet been confirmed. In the Universe, elementary bosons are the force-carrying particles, with elementary fermions being the matter particles.
