Having just turned ten, Ryan is able to get his Pokémon license, and start his journey to become a Pokémon master. Ryan: “Oh yeah! I’m ten now!” James (as Ryan’s pouring his cereal): “So. Ready to become a Pokemon trainer?” Ryan (as he pours milk into the bowl): “Oh yeah, I can’t wait.” James: “Which Pokemon do you think you’ll choose?” Ryan: “I’m not sure. I mean, you chose Froakie and look at it now.” James: “You don’t need to copy everything I do. Just choose the Pokemon you think you’ll have the greatest connection with.” Ryan (Smiling): “Thanks James.” James: “Hey, no problem Squirt. That’s what older brothers are for.” Ryan (Smirking): “I thought you said older brothers were for torturing younger brothers.” James (Smirking too): “Ha, well, that too.” Ryan (as he arrives): “Professor?” Professor Sycamore walks into the room. Sycamore :”Why hello there. I’m Professor Sycamore. You must be Ryan.” Ryan: “Yes sir. Might you remember my brother, James? He was here once. The Froakie he chose is well-trained, and it’s a Greninja now. Anyway, I’m ready to choose a Pokemon.” Sycamore: “Oh yes, I remember him. He was an interesting trainer. Well, here are your three choices.” Sycamore: “This is Chespin, the grass type. Froakie, a water type. And Fennekin, the fire type.” Ryan: “Chespin. I’m choosing Chespin.” Ryan: “Wouldn’t you rather be in a Pokeball?” Ryan: “Professor, I think this particular Chespin is what some refer to as a ‘walking Pokemon’. Are you familiar with the term?” Sycamore: “Yes I am. I forgot to mention this Chespin never liked being in his Poke Ball. Only when it was in the Poke Ball, it was sleeping. Before I forget, here is your Pokedex.” Sycamore: “I presume you know how a Pokedex works, from your brother.” Ryan: “Yeah, he’s shown me. Oh, and he also told me that I’m supposed to also get some Pokeballs with it. I don’t mean to criticize you Professor, but that’s what I was told.” Sycamore: “Some trainers don’t want them, and recently no-one has, so I guess it slipped my mind.” Ryan: “Oh. Well thank you Professor.” Sycamore: “Take care on your journey.” Ryan: “Whoa!” Chespin: “Ches!” Nate: “Whoa! So, you picked Chespin?” Ryan: “Yeah. I’m Ryan by the way.” Nate: “I’m Nate.” Nate: “I’m helping the professor out with some study work at the moment.” Ryan: “That’s cool.I guess you could say I’m doing that as well in a way.” Ryan: “Although we’re doing different types of ‘study work’ I’m assuming.” Nate: “Yeah. I hope you enjoy your journey Ryan.” Ryan: “Thanks Nate. Bye!” James: “I see you followed my advice.” Ryan: “You were right. I did feel a connection. I think Chespin and I will be a great team. Maybe even better than you and Greninja!” James: “Hey, even if that happens, you’ll still be a squirt to me.” Ryan: “Hey!” James: “Either way, good luck.” Ryan: “Are you sure you don’t want to join me? I know you said you didn’t when I was younger, but I let you think about it for this long.” James: “Nah, I don’t think Mom and Dad could handle how quiet it is. Greninja and I have to pick up the slack while you’re gone.” Ryan: “Ha, we always did keep them on their toes with our fights didn’t we? Wow, that seems so long ago now.” James: “Oops, sorry Chespin.” Ryan: “Good luck buttface.” James: “You too no-brains.” Ryan (thinking): “I wonder what adventures we’ll have on this journey? Well, It’ll be awesome to find out!” Narrator: Ryan has gotten his first Pokémon, Chespin. Now, with his Pokémon Partner, Ryan begins his Journey around the Kalos Region. What will be in store for our young hero? Stay tuned.
