  • Asami Fujiwara was the 31st Governor-General of New Englia and the longest serving in New Englia's history. Fujiwara also served as the Speaker of the Senate and represented from North Englia Province for over 12 years. She is the daughter of former senator Ichiro Fujiwara. Fujiwara came into office and immediately got to work on fixing the 8.7 billlion FRX budget deficit. She worked with Congress to cut taxes across the board for the middle and lower classes while raising those of people who make more than 100,000 FRX. She also gained points in the foreign affairs section by successfully lobbying the IOC to allow New Englian participation in the olympic games. Her second term saw her focused on job creation in the tech sector which has suffered the most since 2915. She proposed the creation of tax free trade zones in all ports and industrial parks, but her idea received little traction from congress and even those in her party. While defeated, she never gave up on the issue and would bring her idea up again while giving a speech to a joint session of congress. Still, it gained little traction and a bill presented to the Assembly never made it out of its assigned committee. After securing another defeat, she turned to the rising unemployment and held several bipartisan summits that produced little to no ideas on how to lower it. In her fourth, fifth and sixth terms signs showed a a continuation of economic growth and a return of the county's important industrial sector. She was able to lower the budget deficit but still couldn't reduce the increasing unemployment rate. She announced she would not seek a 7th term in office during the annual State of the Republic address and moved to Englia Province. Fujiwara would go on to live a quiet life after she left office and mostly stayed outside of politics. She died on December 25, 2978 after suffering a brain injury during a fall. She is buried back in her hometown in Sekowo.
