He played junior hockey for the Calgary Royals in 1941-42 then went up to the senior Red Deer Army Wheelers in 1942-43 and 1943-44. In 1944-45 he turned pro with the Buffalo Bisons and then spent the next season with the New Haven Ramblers and the Fort Worth Rangers. Although Pargeter started the 1946-47 season with the Springfield Indians, he was soon traded to the Montreal Canadiens farm team the Buffalo Bisons. He got into his four NHL games that yeat with the Canadiens, but also started a six year career (seven, counting the previous 1944-45 season) with the Bisons.

In 1952-53 Pargeter moved for one year to the Seattle Bombers. In 1953 he moved back to his hometown of Calgary to play two seasons for the Calgary Stampeders and retired in 1955.
