The Mexican Revolution was an armed uprising in the Spanish-held provinces of Mexico in the summer of 1821. The Rebels were largely a group of ragtag farmers, day laborers, and occasionally skilled laborers. They attacked Spanish soldiers, burned government buildings, and killed members of the spanish Aristocracy in most parts of the country, but in the provincial capitol of Mexico City, they stormed the Imperial palace. After 3 days of siege, on July 7th, the Spanish provincial governor agreed to sign a treaty with the rebels. More than a month later, the Spanish government sent back confirmation of the recognition of the Mexican Empire as a sovereign nation.
