Cornelius Fudge sent around twenty-eight letters to Albus Dumbledore in 1996 between the Battle of the Department of Mysteries and his resignation as Minister for Magic, in a vain attempt to persuade him to convince Harry Potter to become the Ministry's poster boy in order for him to keep his office. He failed in his attempts, and was subsequently removed from office.
