The final episode of Angel picks up exactly where the previous episode left off, with Angel wanting to know from Wesley, Lorne, Gunn, and Spike if they are game for wiping out the Circle of the Black Thorn. They all agree. Gunn thinks Illyria would be good to have in their corner, and Lorne mentions she's looking after Drogyn. Angel tells them to get over there right away, as Drogyn's already dead. Hamilton walks in and tells Angel that the Circle wants to see him, as they have concerns.

  • The final episode of Angel picks up exactly where the previous episode left off, with Angel wanting to know from Wesley, Lorne, Gunn, and Spike if they are game for wiping out the Circle of the Black Thorn. Amid a rectangular table, the members of the Black Thorn express doubts about Angel's loyalties. The head honcho, Archduke Sebassis, produces the original copy of the Shanshu prophecy and asks Angel to sign it in blood, thereby exempting himself from it and spoiling any chance of his becoming human. Left with little choice, Angel signs. The gang find Illyria bloodied and beaten in Spike's apartment; she confirms that Hamilton was responsible. Back at Wolfram & Hart, Angel convenes with old enemy Lindsey MacDonald and enlists him in the planned attack on the Circle. The rest of his team rendezvous at Spike's apartment to discuss how the plan will proceed that night. Lorne has serious reservations about one aspect of Angel's plan; he agrees to perform this "last thing", but tells Angel that he's done with the group. Angel advises his friends to spend the rest of the day as if it were their last -- since it probably is. Angel meets with his son, Connor, for coffee. Connor reveals that he knows that Angel is his father; his old memories are now "mixed in" with his new ones, and he understands and appreciates what Angel did for him. Lindsey spends the day with Eve, who is suspicious of Angel even though Lindsey notes he always keeps his word. Wesley tends to the wounds of Illyria, who is puzzled at why he is spending his time this way. She knows he wants to be with Fred, and offers to assume her shape. Wesley confesses that with Fred gone, there is nothing he wants and nowhere else he'd rather be. He would prefer that Illyria not take her form again. The team splits up to attack members of the circle separately, making plans to reunite at the Hyperion if they survive. Hamilton, forewarned by Harmony of Angel's intentions, confronts Angel in his office. Angel reveals he already poisoned his supposed target, Sebassis, and had his sights set on Hamilton all along. And the one-on-one smackdown commences. Gunn, Spike, and Illyria kill their targets. Lindsey and Lorne double-team and kill the Sahvrin clan; then, on Angel's order, Lorne draws a pistol and executes Lindsey. Wesley is mortally wounded in his fight with Cyvus Vail; as he dies, Illyria comforts him in Fred's guise. She turns to face Vail, who mistakes her for human, his last mistake. Illyria shatters his skull with one punch. Back at Wolfram & Hart, Angel is losing his fight with Hamilton until Connor arrives to help. Exasperated by Angel's persistence, Hamilton blurts out that his blood runs with unmitigated power. Oops. Angel vamps out and takes a bite out of Hamilton. This time, their strength is matched and Angel punches Hamilton so hard his neck breaks. Angel, forecasting a swift counterattack by the Senior Partners, tells Connor to get to safety. Angel reaches the alley in the rain. Spike arrives, with a wounded Gunn following suit. Illyria leaps out of the sky and informs them Wesley didn't make it. She feels uncontrollable grief and wants to inflict more violence. She's about to get her wish: An army of demons flood into the alleyway, with a dragon flapping overhead. Spike rhetorically asks if they have a plan; Angel gazes upward and says, "Well, I kind of want to slay the dragon." The demons charge, and the battle commences with the clash of swords.
