In the beginning of the Third Age, Shoglic was a priest in the service of Sauron, wandering Lamedon to search for a place to worship his master. Somewhere near the town of Calembel, he and his followers found a hidden valley and a forgotten temple of the Daen Coentis and decided to make it their home. Shortly after, a fight broke out among the priests and Shoglic was slain. The survivors fled and left his dead body on the altar, where his weak ghost survived. Several hundred years later, some Mountainmen found the place and mistook Shoglic for one of their gods. They worshipped him and gave him strength to take form again. Soon, he had a cult forming around the temple and a small band of followers whom he ordered to bring him human sacrifices to drain energy from. He is bound to the altar
