| - Julie began her career in the entertainment industry in 1989 when she started working for a business management firm that handled recording artists. It was there Julie found her interest in licensing while she managed and distributed artist publishing royalties for the company's clients. At the beginning of 1993, Julie took a position at Chrysalis Music Group. At Chrysalis, she learned the process of clearance, negotiation and contract administration for synchronization and mechanical licensing. Her tenure at Chrysalis led her to a position at Disney Music Publishing where she continued working in music licensing. After three years, she accepted a position at Universal Music Enterprises where she negotiated and managed all of the licenses for the Film & TV Department. During this time in her career, Julie earned a B.S. Degree in Business Administration at California State University Northridge. From Universal, she went on to a position at Maverick Recording Company where she was responsible for all licensing issues, soundtrack/compilation album releases and representation of the Maverick catalog to film studios, television productions, advertising agencies and interactive game developers/publishers. In 2002, Julie started Sessing Music Services to provide music clearance and/or supervision services to film, television, interactive entertainment and new media companies. Wendy Turnbull: Upon graduating from the University of Colorado in 1991, Wendy moved to Los Angeles. She began her entertainment career as a production assistant for Tim Burton and from that experience, Wendy realized that what she found most interesting in the entertainment business was the role music played in films and television programs. After two years of working in production, she set out to begin a career in film and TV music and took a position in Disney Music Publishing’s licensing department. From there she worked at the industry’s largest music library, Associated Production Music, where she learned contract negotiation, licensing, and sales. In 1995 Wendy went to work for Polygram Film & TV music. She was involved in licensing for film, TV, commercials, video games, and corporate projects. She eventually handled pitching Polygram music and licensing for all TV programs and promo spots. Polygram was acquired by Universal Music Group and Wendy worked for the newly merged Film & TV division as the head of the TV department. At the time, the Universal Music Enterprises catalog represented approximately 1/3 of the entire record business. After an incredible 8 years at Polygram/Universal, Wendy moved on to represent another amazing catalogue at Sony Music. At Sony, Wendy was instrumental in aiding Sony labels in various marketing campaigns by placing music in TV shows and promo spots, while bringing in significant licensing fees. Being able to keep up with an incredibly high volume of requests to clear, and staying on top of all the new artist releases was a very exciting mix of tasks. Sony eventually merged with BMG, and as the catalog grew, so did Wendy’s knowledge of current and catalog music. Having worked for two of the largest music groups in the world, Wendy has extensive knowledge of the music in the marketplace. Fourteen years working in the film and television business allowed Wendy to hone her negotiating skills and strengthen her relationships within the synchronization world. Creatively she was able to represent such rich catalogs, which allowed her to form strong working relationships with labels, music supervisors, publishers, and licensing administrators. In June of 2007 Wendy decided it was time to use what she had learned and become independent of a big company by joining Julie Sessing as a partner at Sessing Music Services.
