The Pittsburgh Penguins drafted him 48th overall in the 1977 NHL Amateur Draft. While playing some games for the Penguins, most of his career was spent in the minor pros. He was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1980, but there, too, he was stuck in the minors. Davis retired in 1982. He had played in 36 NHL games, scoring 5 goals and 7 assists.
