Shearants are strange creatures because they seem like advanced mandiblards, which means that they are either older mandiblard relatives that have not devolved to the point where they lose their limbs, or they are highly evolved mandiblards that have gained use of limbs once more. Either way, these creatures are intelligent and can organize themselves similarly to Pikmin, carrying away corpses, drinking nectar and such- attacking in formations as well. If they are forced to engage in a fight against Pikmin, the combat is relatively hand-to-hand. This makes the Shearant a particularly annoying and difficult threat.
