Carbon fiber, kevlar, aramid fibers, high strength magnesium, tungsten and aluminum alloys along with high tech plastics coupled with the latest manufacturing techniques provide a platform from which to launch. Scram jet, rocket-based combined-cycle engines, ion propulsion and hydrogen fuel cells will provide the thrust along with improved solar power for sustained missions.
