  • In the movie Jack and his sister Maggie Banning is the son of Peter Banning and kidnapped by the infamous Captain Hook in order to lure Peter to having a duel to the death with him as Hook seems to believe Peter Banning is in-fact his arch-enemy Peter Pan who vanished years ago. Most of the residence of Neverland seem to believe, like Hook that Banning is Peter Pan grown-up after leaving Neverland but Peter has no memory of such claims and is certain they are all just seeing what they want but is willing to play live by their expectations as they appear to be the only way to get his children back. While Peter deals with his identity crisis Jack and Maggie are kept as hostages on Hook's the Jolly Roger, pirate ship.

About halfway through the film, Hook decides to get at Peter by appealing as a father figure to the children thus taking them away from him emotionally regardless of whether he can win the duel to the death or not and morally wound him. While Maggie continues to hold onto the hopes of seeing her parents again, Jack begins to be won over by Hook as Peter was a very restrictive parent with little time for him and Hook is more than content to encourage delinquent behavior and spend time with Jack as a consummate support. During the third act of the movie Jack has been ore or less won over as a pirate and Hook's protege, However in the very end Jack sees Hook is not willing to live up to any of his own standards and starts warming up to his father again, especially in light of Peter having reconnected to his inner child.
