The commander of the GR Maverick Hunters is Zero, who suggested the rebirth of the Maverick Hunters. While a proficient Maverick Hunter and even more skilled than Zero, the revived X chose instead to take up a diplomatic role as leader of Virtue Arcadia. The Four Guardians chose to follow in X's footsteps, and four "protege" Reploids were made based on their designs to serve in the Maverick Hunters.
