Super Typhoon/Hurricane Mabel was the seventeenth depression of the typhoon season, the twelfth typhoon, and the second super typhoon. Mabel was a powerful cyclone that first formed near Hawaii, as it went westward, remaining as a severe tropical storm before entering the warm waters of the West Pacific, where explosive intensification took place, going to a maximum wind speed of 200mph and a minimum pressure of 870 mbar, barely beating Patricia's record and tying Typhoon Tip for strongest cyclone recorded. The storm then impacted the Philippines and Japan, bringing lots of bad impacts and becoming the most destructive typhoon to strike the Philippines and Japan, where it then rapidly turned eastward, and accelerated, slowly weakening as it managed to hit Hawaii at category 3 intensity wit

  • Super Typhoon/Hurricane Mabel was the seventeenth depression of the typhoon season, the twelfth typhoon, and the second super typhoon. The storm then impacted the Philippines and Japan, bringing lots of bad impacts and becoming the most destructive typhoon to strike the Philippines and Japan, where it then rapidly turned eastward, and accelerated, slowly weakening as it managed to hit Hawaii at category 3 intensity with 120mph sustained winds, bringing large amounts of damage, as it then entered the slightly less warmers of the East Pacific, where explosive intensification once again took place, strengthening to 175mph as it made direct landfall where Patricia made landfall, going inland and rapidly weakening to a tropical storm before entering the basin, and being renamed Tropical Storm Dipper as it rapidly strengthened to Hurricane Dipper, affecting the Yucatan and Cuba as it rapidly strengthened before making landfall in the Greater Antilles, going westward at category 5 intensity with 180mph winds, hitting Bahamas and Florida at category 5 intensity, and hitting Louisiana at category 4 intensity before going inland, fluctuating between category 1 status and tropical storm status as it rapidly weakened as it went out due to abnormally cold waters nearby Bermuda, before weakening and dissipating as it made landfall in Bermuda. Mabel and Dipper were both retired, Mabel was replaced with Marana, and Dipper was replaced with Dexter. It had broken several records, including longest lived storms, lowest pressure (Tied with Tip) and costliest hurricane.
