Nancy Leathers was the mother of Ida Leathers (later Barlow) and the maternal grandmother of Ken and David Barlow. In 1961, she became ill and briefly moved to live with the Barlow family at 3 Coronation Street, where she was looked after by Ida and GP Dr. Graham. During this time she became friends with Albert Tatlock. When Ida was hit by a bus and killed, Nancy was too distressed to attend the funeral. Shortly after this she moved away from Weatherfield to live in an old folk's bungalow after being nursed by Valerie Tatlock. She returned the following year to attend the wedding of her grandson Ken and Valerie.
