Roper's final three races came in the 1984 season, when Roper was tapped again to drive on the superspeedways. He ran well in both Daytona events again, showing a season-best 16th in the 500 and 21st in the 400. He, however, struggled at Talladega this time, finishing 28th after an engine issue.
