Techniques of Vivisection is a work written by Praetorius of Verditius in 841, dealing with the dissection of living things, people in particular. In the text, Praetorius cheerfully recommends working with living specimens for optimal freshness, and offers numerous suggestions as to how to deal with the inevitable difficulties and distractions thereof. One Maga of Jerbiton who casually perused the book is said to have fainted dead away; others admire the obvious workmanship involved in its lavish descriptions and colorful illustrations.
