- A Diablo III egy akció szerepjáték, hasonló stílusú, mint a Diablo II. Saját 3D-s motorral rendelkezik, amely lehetőséget ad a játék közben egy felülnézeti és egy, a korábbi Diablo játékoknál megszokott, izometrikus nézetre is. A motorba a Havok fizikai motort is beletették, amely a szabadon rombolható környezetért felel, amely a játék során nagy szerepet kap. A fejlesztők igyekeznek minden létező rendszerre elérhetővé tenni a játékot, s azt állítják, hogy a játék nem fogja igényelni a DirectX 10-et.
