The 2008 FISA World Cup was an international soccer tournament held in Oceania from June 10 to July 11, 2008. Ireland defeated Jamaica 4-3 in the Final to win their third World Cup (1972 and 1992 being the others) in history. The Final was hosted in a record-breaking televised event in Sydney Harbour National Stadium. Jamaica, which was the last team to qualify for the Round of 16 in the tournament, became a dark-horse Cinderella team by defeating tournament favorites Argentina and China in the first two Knockout Stage rounds without a single point scored against them and defeated Peru in the semifinal on penalty kicks.
