The St. Johns River is the longest river in the state of Florida in the USA. It flows to the north and spans 310 miles (500 km), emptying into the Atlantic Ocean near Jacksonville. It was designated as an American Heritage River in 1997 and was included in the 2008 America’s Most Endangered Rivers report by American Rivers.
