| - Mephistopheles is a sinister character who appears in the Nexus when your Character Tendency reaches pure Black. She will ask you to assassinate other characters, and give you a reward for each kill. When you finish, she will attack you, and upon defeating her you will obtain the Foe's Ring. Since the characters you kill will not respawn until your next playthrough, it is recommended that you do this quest right before the end of the game, and only after you have made sure that you do not need to change your miracles/magics.

- Mephisto is the devil puppet that was made and named after the most famous devil, Mephistopheles, a character in the German folktale, 'Faust'. Andre Toulon used him in his puppet shows while in Cairo, Egypt during 1912. It is unknown if Mephisto was ever alive, but Toulon claimed he was a stringless puppet that moved on it's own. Though he is never actually seen doing anything autonomously in the films, he remains a popular puppet for fans of the series, possibly because of his interesting design. Mephisto was destroyed in a fire by a Cairo Merchant, who later gives 'the secret of life' to Andre Toulon.

He proceeds to raise an army, fighting his way to Waterdeep. His plan is to rule the Nine Hells by creating a tenth, with Toril being the intended location.

In NWN Hordes of the Underdark he sought to usurp Asmodeus, Lord of the Ninth Hell and ruler of the Nine Hells of Baator, by relocating to the Prime Material Plane and turning it into the Tenth Hell. Asmodeus barred the Archfiends (rulers of each Hell of Baator) from going to the Prime Material Plane to stop just such an occurence. - The small vessel is equipped to house around half a dozen people. Waste recycling via nanomachines makes it self-sufficient and able to make long voyages with few supplies required. The room is cramped, the air is stale, and the food is bad, but there is everything needed to accomplish its mission. The ship layout is divided into decks, each with its own function, accessible via an elevator. Service tunnels also run between floors, although they are only intended for repairs and inspection by the ship's engineer.
