Jack recieves flashbacks on the night of his family's murder after getting angered at Nefaria Al Ghul for saying that it was his fault that they died. In the flashbacks, rookie detective Ben Urich and his partner Harvey Nelson are assigned to the case of the murder of Matt and Moria Murdock (Brette Taylor), which was witnessed by street orphan Jessica Jones. Urich meets Jack and promises him that that he will find the killer. Urich and both suspect a parolee named Mario Bennett, whom Nelson shoots when he flees and attacks Urich. They discover that Bennett had been framed, leading them to mobster Fish Montoya, an associate of Wilson Fisk. Montoya has them captured, but Fisk spares them upon his arrival. In exchange, Fisk orders Ben to kill Leland Owsley , a low-level member of Montoya's gang and informant for the New York MCU investigators, Sarah Ortiz, and Crispus Thawne. Urich fakes Owsley's death , and tells him never to return to New York. Jack decides to betray Nefaria Al Ghul after learning about his plans for New York and ends up burning down his home while saving Elektra in the process. 2. * "Jessica Jones"- Jack returns to New York City where he decides to go on a surveillance mission in the seedy East End, where teenage prostitute Holly Sinclair propositions him. He is drawn into a brawl with her pimp and several prostitutes, including Jessica Jones. Corrupt detective Henshaw shoots Jack and takes him into his squad car, but Jack manages to escape. Jack reaches his house, , barely alive, and sits praying for guidance in his war against crime. A photo of a a former vigilante, dressed like the Devil, gives Jack inspiration. Henshaw's murder leads Urich and Nelson to investigate the abductions of street kids by Patti (Lili Taylor) and Doug (Frank Whaley) at seedy East End, who are underlings of Dr. Francis Kyle and have been posing as members of the Mayor's Homeless Outreach Program. After Patti and Doug escape, with Quillinformer worker Morry Quillan (Wayne Duvall) captured, Mayor Aubrey James (Richard Kind) announces plans to help Hells Kitchen's homeless kids. , which involves rounding them up and shipping them out of town. Patti and Doug return and hijack one of the buses of street kids, including Jessica Jones. After Nelson's interrogation of Quillan, Ben and Harvey arrive and catch Patti and Doug while encountering Jones. While Jack, has plans to find a way to help the children, Urich meets with Jones who states that she has been watching him during his visits with Jack, and might have some information on the person who shot Matt and Moria Murdock. 3. * "The Blue Talon"- Urich and Nelson track a vigilante who targets corrupt New York citizens and nicknamed "Blue Talon" for having dragon tattoos on his victims. Taylor and Thawne question Urich about Owsley, who returns to New York to get revenge on Montoya. He gets a job at Don Luigi's restaurant, and is befriended by Don Luigi (David Zayas) himself. Jack decides to let the Blue Talon continue killing corrupt New York citizens, and Fish Montoya has Fisk's lover Vanessa murdered after King Pin 's men severely beat a waiter with whom Montoya had been dating. Urich realizes that "Blue Talon" is social worker, Itto Yamura (Karl Yune) , who was driven to become the Blue Talon because of corrupt officials refusing to aid children on the streets. He warns Urich that more vigilantes will follow in his path. At his apartment later, Urich receives a surprise visit from Owsley. 4. * "Rykers"- Ben learns of the Rykers Plan, when he visits Jack Murdock, where Alfred James mentions that Fisk and mayor John are backing the project that will improve the Rykers District. An unnamed hitman (Hakeem Kae-Kazim) has been targeting the city council members involved in the Rykers Project. Jack decides to help as Daredevil and kills the hit man by breaking his neck in front of Ben. Meanwhile, Owsley gets promoted to manager by Don Luigi after saving a bag of money from three masked men and the death of the manager. Later, Owsley kills the three masked robbers who had attacked Luigi's who it turns out had been hired for just that purpose by Owsley himself, by serving them poisoned lasagna. 5. * "Viper"- Jack gets invited to the wedding of Sophia Gigante to the son of a rival crime family and realizes that Fisk is trying to get him to help launder the money made by his mob. A new drug called "Viper" (which is a prototype of Extremis ) is hitting the street, which endows the user with super-strength, but eventually kills them. Luigi plans to rob a casino owned by Fisk, and Owsley reveals his past. Urich learns that "Viper" is being distributed at Fisk's wedding. Urich shoots the canister on the roof and former WellZyn employee Stan Potolsky (Daniel London) is exposed, jumping off as he suggests they check out Warehouse 29, where Urich and Nelson later find nothing. As Montoya makes plans to conspire against King Pin with her lover and Russian mob boss Nikolai, a disguised Liza visits him in the park where she shares her opera music with him. 6. * "Spirit Of The Wolf"- Ten years ago, a masked killer calling himself the "Spirit of the Wolf targeted the first born of New York City's elite. The Wolf targets a girl named Shelley Lawson, which leads a younger Nelson and his partner Detective Dix (Dan Hedaya) to try and rescue her. When Lawson is found dead, they find the killer, Randall Milkie, who claims that "Randall Milkie is dead" as he tries to attack them. Milkie is shot down by Bullock after Dix falls through a trap door and ends up badly injured. Ten years later, Nelson finds Robert Hastings' daughter, Amanda, murdered by someone with the same "Wolf" motive. Upon surgery, Harvey sees a penny inside her neck, Milkie's trademark, which only he and Dix knew, which meant that he was not an imposter. Jack learns that Ava Ayala has been kidnapped by The Wolf, and decides to save her as Daredevil since he is in love with her. Nelson discovers that Hastings' psychotherapist Dr. Marks (Susan Misner) hypnotized both Milkie and the new killer to become the Wolf to scare New York City's rich and corrupt. The "murder" of Owsley is also investigated, with Urich the prime suspect as Ortiz and Thawne to finally find a witness near the river. When they attempt to arrest Urich and Nelson, Owsley enters the police station, causing friction between Urich and Nelson since Ben lied to him for two years. 7. * "The Owl's Umbrella"- Ben takes Barbara to the bus station, telling her to leave New York. Owsley leads Luigi enforcer Frankie Carbone and two other henchmen to Nikolai's hideout, killing him and Carbone. The escalating mob war is put down with a land trade between the two mafia families. A drunken Nelson re-evaluates his choice for helping Ben. , and the two partners attempt to arrest the mayor and Wilson Fisk. , but they give up when it is revealed that Fisk and hitman Bullseye have Barbara, who had come back to try and negotiate with Fisk for Urich. As Fisk, takes care of his dogs, Owsley visits him, and Fisk tells him that everything is going as planned In a flashback to the night they had met Urich, it is shown that Leland and Wilson had formed a deal, in which Wilson would place Urich in charge of killing Owsley, a chance at surviving, and in exchange, Leland would forge an alliance with Luigi, snitching for Fisk. Owsley tell Fisk that Montoya and Nikolai are conspiring against him. 8. * "Mask"- Jack decides to help Ben and Harvey investigate Roman Dominick ( (Todd Stashwick) who is hosting an illegal and deadly fight club where the victims are those who applied for Dominick investments. Meanwhile, Liza's loyalty to Fish Montoya begins to fade when she learns of Montoya's kill Wilson Fisk, but Montoya presses her to steal a ledger from the Fisk's office that may be used to incriminate him. When Jack is caught at the site of the fight club, Nelson asks NYPD for help finding Jack. After "The Mask" and those involved are arrested, Jack learns from Ben that Jessica was apprehended after robbing a dress store. 9. * "Foggy Nelson"- Jack begins to believe that Fisk had his family murdered and agrees to have Jessica stay at his mansion for her protection. Jack begins to investigate Fish Montoya's night club by posing as a customer, however a gangster named Big Devil threatens Montoya since he wants protection money from her and Jack decides to kill Big Devil as Daredevil since he doesn't want any distractions in his investigation. Meanwhile, Ben leaves a message on Barbara's phone, unaware that she is secretly having an affair with Sophia Gigante, who is angry at Fisk for making her engage in a forced marriage. 10. * "Sacrifice"- Through Jessica Jones, Fish enlist the help of an infamous family of criminals called the Potter brothers to target Wilson's cache of money. Daredevil kills one of the Potter brothers, when targeting Fish's illegal business, forcing the rest to use their adoptive sister Bridgit (Michelle Veintimilla), to help. During another heist, the Potter brothers abandon Bridgit as Ben and Harvey attempt to stop the Potters and she is forced to flee with Jessica's help , accidentally killing a member of the strike force. Jack has coffee with Fisk and Fisk kills an Irish mobster named Erin Mckillen since he blames her for his money getting stolen. 11. * "By Gladiator"- After moving away from the Potter brothers, and in with Jessica Jones, Bridgit Potter is abducted and further abused by the Potter brothers after attempting to leave New York City. Bridgit snaps and murders the other Potter brothers, beginning a crime spree. After a visit to Jessica's hideout, Jack arrives at the Potter brothers apartment where they find them dead. Jessica asks Urich to make sure nothing happens to Bridget, however Bridget is killed in a struggle with Jack , who tried to help as Daredevil which makes Jessica angry at Urich. Meanwhile Pike is alive but her entire body is burned. She is taken to Indian Hill where the underground division of Stark Enterprises is where they secretly performs inhumane experiments on super-powered beings. It is stated that the body armor she uses melts onto her, rendering her fireproof. Ben begins to suspect that Jack Murdock is Daredevil and decides to go after him since he wants to takeout his anger on him. 12. * "Resistance Is Futile"- Ben decides to set up a trap for Jack, by making it look like Ortiz is being mugged. Jack shows up as Daredevil and Ortiz holds Jack at gunpoint, but Jack disarms her and flees to an abandoned building. Captain West fraudulently orders a bomb dropped on it, forcing Daredevil into the fortified basement. A SWAT team is sent in, led by trigger-happy Lieutenant Branden, whom Jack attempts to trap in the basement. Branden manages to climb out of the trap through a collapsed chimney, and joins in the gun battle. Enraged as the team’s careless gunfire injures several people outside, Daredevil beats the team into submission, but is wounded during the fighting. Using a signal device to release smoke grenades, to distract the police and conceal himself, Jack escapes amid the chaos. Jack decides to kidnap Urich in the end and hold him prisoner in the cave. 13. * "Flamingos"- Jealous of Ben Urich, Sophia goes to an underground killer agency and pays to have him assassinated. Jack continues to have Urich prisoner in the cave, until Ben finds a way to escape. Fearful that Urich knows too much, Jack investigates Barbara Essen's condo as Daredevil where Urich finds a dear john letter that Barbara left behind. The killers arrive; Ben and Daredevil manage to fend them off, but Urich is severely injured. Police reinforcements arrive, but are eliminated by another hired killer named Eduardo Sanchez (Raúl Castillo). After coming close to killing him, Jack arrests Sanchez , but, before being placed in his cell, Sanchez kills another officer. That makes Ben feel guilty since he felt that Jack is needed to be a killer in New York. 14. * "The Fearsome Dr. Drago"- Ben and Harvey both investigate a serial killer who is targeting members of a fear support group and extracting their adrenal glands as he uses their greatest fear against them. After a brief encounter with Jessica Jones, Ben visits Jack, who in light of Jessica's recent claim of false witness towards his family's killer's identity, absolves Urich of his promise to find him. Urich and Nelson discover that the serial killer is Gerald Drago (Julian Sands), the father of Zolton Drago, (Charlie Tahan), who had been posing as "Todd", a member of the same support group as his victims. Meanwhile, a mobster named Bruno Tess tries to get Butch Mason to join Chuckie Lee's crew and deal with Fish, Butch kills Bruno 15. * "Mister Fear"- When Gerald Drago gets another victim, Ben Urich and Harvey Nelson investigate his background and discover that he was a high school biology teacher whose wife died in a fire accident that he was too scared to rescue her from. Believing that fear is a human flaw, he harvested adrenal glands in order to use them to create a fear serum that makes people see their greatest fears, hoping that it will help them face and overcome them. Jack coincidentally goes to the school where Karen Page is and the connection between them is explained since Karen's mother was once a maid working for him. Jack and his son in order to protect Karen since he fears that they would kill her after learning Karen is seeing the school psychologist about her fears that people she cares about will die such as Matt and his father. 16. * "What The Master Told Me"- Jack meets with his old mentor Stick who seeks his help in going after the man who killed his sister who is working for gangster Chuckie Lee, a member of the Valestra Crime Family and trying to takeover Fisk's empire. Fisk discovers that Montoya is behind Liza's abduction, and is offered a deal. Fisk is to sign his crime family over to Montoya's gang in exchange for the opportunity for him and Liza to leave for Italy. Before Wilson goes through with the deal, Leland informs him that Liza was always working for Montoya. Fisk confronts Montoya, and Liza at the former's club, and strangles Liza to death. Victor Hawthorne and several mercenaries working for Fisk. then take both Montoya and Butch Mason prisoner, while the Don gives Owsley a chance to mock his former boss, as he has inherited her nightclub as well as what is left of her gang. 17. * "Mask Of The Tiger"- In an unknown location, Fish Montoya is strapped to a stretcher where Fisk's top servant Bob will be in charge of torturing her. Daredevil bursts in one a meeting between Chuckie Lee and Chuckie tries to flee until he is murdered by a mysterious cloaked figure which is why Councilman Arthur Rowan tells the media that the Daredevil is responsible despite Detective Urich's protests. Mason manages to free himself and severely beats Bob, then frees Fish Montoya. Jack investigates the graveyard where gangster Buzz Bronski is murdered by the same cloaked figure and Ava is there visiting her deceased mother. Ava soon learns that Jack is Daredevil. Fish leaves town with help from Harvey Nelson and he vows to get revenge on Owsley for ruining everything. 18. * "Truth Be Told"- Alfred discovers evidence that Ava's father Carl Ayala to Salvatore Valeska, Chuckie Lee, , and Buzz Bronski before Fisk took over. Jack visits Ava as Daredevil to get more answers, but Ava rebuffs him over the choices that he made while she was away. White Tiger arrives to kill Valeska, only to be attacked by Daredevil after realizing that Valeska is in protective custody. Rowan tries to catch Daredevil he escapes with help from Ava who tells him the truth about her father at the mansion. Fish meanwhile gets captured by mercenaries and gets taken to an island where there is prison owned by Francis Kyle. 19. * "The Blind Fortune Teller"- Barbara returns to New York to discover Abbot and Jessica in her apartment. Elsewhere, Montoya plans to save herself and the other prisoners when they discover that they were kidnapped so that their organs can be harvested. Alfred and Ava decide to take Jack's mind off the White Tiger for a while which is why Ava takes him to a show at the circus. Unfortunately, a snake dancer named Lila Reed is murdered which is why Ben investigates as the Flying Connors' and the Lloyds are suspects. A psychic named Paul Cicero (Mark Margolis) approaches Ben , claiming to have received a message from the dead dancer. Urich is skeptical and thinks the psychic is covering up for the killer. Urich accuses the dancer's son Jerome (Cameron Monaghan) of committing the murder, and tells him that Cicero is his biological father. Jerome begins laughing and admits that he killed his mother for being a "nagging, drunken whore". When customers begin to steadily decrease at Leland Owsley 's newly obtained club, , Zsasz gives Owsley a tortured and completely reformed Butch Mason , who he says is knowledgeable when it comes to maintaining clubs and has been "working on him" for days. The White Tiger returns and tries to kill Valeska only for Jerome to kill him while imprisoned. John Conner and Mary Lloyd get engaged after the dispute between the two families are resolved. Montoya tells the lead captor at the prison named Thomas Schmidt ( Ryan Gosling) that she would like to meet with his boss. 20. * "The Angel Of Death"- After the White Cat kills Arthur Rowan, , this draws the attention of Daredevil and the two engage in combat. Unfortunately, the White Tiger has experience and weaponry which makes Jack bloodied, broken, and forced to flee before he is killed. Alfred is able to find Jack and take him home. Jack retrieves the gun that killed his family and decides to prepare against the White Tiger by going to Owsley for help, who agrees just as long as Jack works with a thug named Joe White. Ava decides to accept Jack's proposal when Jack proposes to her and surprises an orphanage with a gift. 21. * "Inconvenient Lie"- During an attempt to capture the White Tiger , a major battle happens and many members of the Fisk Crime Family are killed. Jack decides to kill Joe White just to teach Fisk a lesson about flooding New York with crime and drugs. However, the White Tiger kills White and attacks Jack once it is discovered that he is Daredevil. Daredevil gains the upper hand and unmasks the White Tiger to be Ava. Ava reveals that her father is dead because of the criminals in New York and that she wanted to stop them. Jack decides to let her go while ending his engagement with her out of anger for framing him. Ben manages to clear the vigilante's name after presenting proof to Ortiz. 22. * "Everybody Has An Owsley"- Ben learns from Harvey that Commissioner Hoffman has information on police officers who committed mob murders which Hoffman uses to control them; in Harvey's case, Hoffman forced him to falsely provide illegitimate evidence against a drug dealer named Jefferson Skeevers after Daredevil catches him in the act. Ben decides to get the evidence stash with help from Jack, Harvey and Foggy. Meanwhile, Fish Montoya finally meets the Death's-Head (Colm Feore), who provides her with a new sky-blue irised eye and allows her to prove herself in order to become his right hand woman. Later, Fish discovers much to her dismay that the prison facility is situated on an isolated island. 23. * "The Bully"- Jack begins preparing to kill another corrupt official working for the King Pin. , but Alfred believes that Jack should help the police take down a group of bank robbers. Jack refuses until Alfred is able to convince him in the end. Jack discovers that one of the robbers is his childhood bully who was forced to turn to crime after Sid Bunderslaw outsourced 2500 jobs to China and the bully lost his home as a result. Urich has his own bully to deal with who is Arnold Trevor , a cop who is outraged at Urich for blackmailing Hoffman into supporting him for president of the police union. After Trevor and a group of corrupt cops gang beat Ben, Ben tracks Trevor down with help from Harvey , beats him, and leaves him handcuffed in the snow without any clothes on to teach him a lesson. Barbara takes advice from Abbot and Jessica to rekindle her romance with Urich , only to catch him kissing Leslie. 24. * "Typhoid Mary"- Daredevil decides to investigate the disappearance of several people and discovers that the culprit is Typhoid Mary , a deranged murderer who kidnaps people, kills them, and then mutilates their corpses or turns them into toys and taxidermy with freakish grins. The O'Connor assassination attempt is revealed to be a set-up designed by Owsley to start a war between Fisk and Luigi. Things get personal for Urich, when Typhoid Mary captures Barbara, however Jack is able to locate Mary with help from Lucius Gordon and saves Barbara. However, Barbara is traumatized by everything that has happened and by Daredevil slits Typhoid Mary's with a knife he has which makes Urich mad at Jack. Meanwhile, Walter Sage comes to New York to do business with Stark Enterprises which gives Jack a good opportunity to search Bunderslaw's safe only to find that the documents are gone which makes him decide to target Bunderslaw out of anger. Fisher tries to protect Kristin Ferrell from her boyfriend Tom Eilling , but goes too far when he stabs him a dozen times and has a psychotic breakdown. 25. * "It's Never Too Late"- Several crimes and killings committed by Luigi and his crew alert Captain West , who calls all officers of the NYPD to remain on duty during the upcoming gang war. Fisk sends his top lieutenant Arnold Stormwell after Maroni only for the war to come to a climax when Arnold Stromwell is set up to be killed in an exploding restaurant by Luigi. Jack saves him at the last moment, and aided by Stromwell's brother (now a priest who lost his leg years before, an accident for which Stromwell carries a secret guilt), tries to persuade him to give up his life of crime and help the police bring Luigi down by testifying against them. Fisher disposes of officer Dougherty's body in the forensic lab and pens a letter, posing as Dougherty, explaining that he left town. 26. * "All Happy Families Are Alike"- The mob war between the King Pin and Luigi escalates. Barbara, following the death of Typhoid Mary, undergoes trauma counseling with Leslie. When Fisk is hospitalized during an ambush, Leland Owsley and Butch arrive to kill him with a plan to take his place only to be stopped by Ben. With Jack and Nelson's help, Ben gets Fisk, Owsley, , and Butch away from Luigi's men and to a safe house where Fish Montoya's new gang (with Jessica Jones amongst its recruits) abduct them. Montoya makes a deal with Luigi for Fisk's head, but Luigi acts disrespectfully towards her leading her to shoot him in the head. Luigi's men and Montoya's gang start fighting while Ben, Harvey, Fisk, and Owsley break free, but Jessica and some of Montoya's gang recaptures them. Owsley arrives with a machine gun and chases Montoya while Urich, Jack, and Nelson escape with Fisk. Owsley, Montoya and Butch run to the roof where a fight ensues that results in Montoya falling off the roof into the water below. During this time, Barbara tries to kill Leslie, forcing her to neutralize her in self defense just as Jack, Nelson and Fisk arrive. Kristen Ferrell confronts Edward Fisher about Tom's disappearance which Fisher claims to have no knowledge of leading to what seems to be a psychotic breakdown. Jack vows never to kill again after learning how Fisk thought he was helping people and when Fisk begins to feel that New York needs law and order to come back instead of crime.
