The Hotel Guest was an elderly white-haired Scottish woman who waited rather impatiently to be served dinner in the dining room while staying at the Murdoch Guest House in Blackpool in July 1994. When the Websters and Rita Sullivan came downstairs for dinner, the woman complained to them about the service and suggested that they club up for the Indian take-away on the corner. She was unimpressed when Mr Murdoch entered and told the guests there would be a slight delay and asked if anyone liked Indian food (while his unseen wife barked orders to him from another room). The guest and her silent companion decided to find themselves another restaurant and got up to leave, the woman adding to Mr Murdoch "knock it off the price".
