The spell causes Grouchy to be visited by the Three Smurfs of Christmas to show his past, his present, and his future. The ingredients of the spell include a dash of nutmeg, a touch of holly, and essence of smurfberry. It then creates a bright blue ball of energy that when ingested will cause whoever consumed it to be visited by the Three Smurfs Of Christmas. It also distorts their vision to make everything they see appear as an animated cartoon. In the story, it was ingested by Grouchy Smurf, after he refused to take part in any Christmas festivities, so Papa Smurf took it upon himself to show Grouchy the true meaning of Christmas by creating the spell. Upon consumption, Grouchy was visited by the Three Smurfs of Christmas (Smurfette, Brainy, and Hefty respectively) and he realized that the true meaning of Christmas was having a family that really cares for him.
