The EX160 features a traditional neck joint with a metal plate. It has a light American maple body bolted to a one-piece maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot position markers. Components include Ibanez Powersound pickups with a humbucker in the bridge position and single coils in the neck and middle positions and a synchronized tremolo bridge. The EX170 is a similar model with a humbucking pickup in the neck position and a maple fretboard. The EX160 was available only in the US and was discontinued after 1993 along with the rest of the EX line.
