Isha Fofana (born December 28, 1965 in Banjul, The Gambia) is a Gambian artist. Since 1984 she is a member of the ”Gambia Black African Art Club”. In May 2000 she moved to Aachen/Germany. During her time in Europe she had international exhibitions, amongst them, together with the UNESCO music awards given to Youssou N 'Dour/Senegal and Oumou Sangaré/Mali. In 2006 she opened the art gallery “Mama Africa” in Cologne/Germany as a cultural centre for people interested in arts and culture from Africa. In 2007 she was nominated for the “Best African Artist in Europe” and since then she is the international representative of Gambian artists. Since 2008 she is a member of the “International Artist Association”. In 2008 she decided to return home to The Gambia. There she founded the non-profit cult

The “Mama Africa women’s museum and art centre” was founded in 2010 in Batokunku/The Gambia. In 2010 she became chairperson to the Board of “National Centre for Art and Culture“ and member of the Organising Committee “Kanilai International Cultural Festival“. She is the head of the girls education project “Girls in Art”. In 2011 she was invited by the U.S. Department of State to attend the member of the African Women Entrepreneurs Program (AWEP) /USA.
