Artifact •••, commit 6 (universal) This light sash appears to be mere grey-brown silk with thickly swirling cloth-of-gold embroidery. On closer inspection, though, the “silk” turns out to be nearly-microscopic chainmail in copper and blue jade, the links so closely meshed that their colors seem from a distance to blend. The embroidery in turn is composed of tiny golden bells and glockenspiel-bars, harvested from Vitalius by carefully coppicing an appropriate sapling thirteen times. Although made as much from wholesome material as from hellstuff, it still bears considerable resemblance to the Hauberk of Bells on which is was based: gentle glissandi ripple perpetually along its length even when it lies untouched, expanding into melodies that match a wearer’s movements. A dancer moving in time with its songs finds that they guide her well. She adds her Performance score to both her DVs and to all Dexterity-based dice pools. The lighter design can be worn indefinitely—it isn’t armor—but offers no extra soak or hardness.
