McElligott joins “veteran play-by-play announcer George Matthews on all games broadcast via the Columbus Blue Jackets Radio Network, including flagship stations WBNS-AM, Sports Radio 1460 The Fan, and WWCD-FM, CD 101.” McElligott has been calling Crunch games on local radio for the past ten years. There’s practically no “off season” for the Pennsylvania native, as he held a similar role with the Syracuse Chiefs, the local farm team of Major League Baseball’s Washington Nationals. In addition, “Bobby Mac” has provided morning sports reports for several Syracuse stations, including Newsradio 570 WSYR, Oldies 92.1 (WSEN), and Movin 100.3/96.5 (WOLF-FM/WWLF-FM) — interestingly, all owned by different companies. He has also covered Syracuse University sports for ESPN 360, and various local sports programming for Time Warner Cable. His new job in Columbus will keep him pretty busy too — in addition to assisting with live game coverage, McElligott will also host the pre-game and post-game shows and other programming. He’ll also be contributing to the team’s website.
