  • Frank Connell began his career in broadcasting in Steubenburg, Livinia at WSTU-AM and WGAW-AM in his teens and twenties. He moved on to WGAW-TV as a reporter. He moved on in 1976 to become the weekend anchor on WGAW, along with his reporting duties. In 1978, his reporting of the Lake Ellis Wastewater Scandal caught the eye of television executives in Metropolis, where he started reporting for WWON-TV, an independent station based in New Manchester. Jim Fletcher was removed from the anchor desk at 6 and eventually moved over to WMBC-TV. Frank was paired with John Fleischer in 2015.

He moved on in 1976 to become the weekend anchor on WGAW, along with his reporting duties. In 1978, his reporting of the Lake Ellis Wastewater Scandal caught the eye of television executives in Metropolis, where he started reporting for WWON-TV, an independent station based in New Manchester. He stayed there until 1987, when he was recruited by WABM-TV, the ABC-Affiliated Station that was looking for new reporters. Connell was the Junior City Hall Reporter until 1998 when he was promoted to the Weekend Anchor Desk. When Jack Drury stepped down from the 5:00 News in 2000, Frank was promoted alongside with Susan Clarkson. When Bill Barnes and Bill Bartel left in 2002, he was paired with Jim Fletcher at 6:00 and Debra Lewis at 11:00. Jim Fletcher was removed from the anchor desk at 6 and eventually moved over to WMBC-TV. Frank was paired with John Fleischer in 2015. Frank Connell still is on the radio. He is with colleague Jim Fletcher on WON-AM's Frank and the Fletch weekdays 2-4 PM.
