During Schubert’s coaching tenure, he worked with notable swimmers: Shirley Babashoff, Sippy Woodhead, Jill Sterkel, Janet Evans, Lenny Krayzelburg, and most recently swimmers: Lindsay Benko, Erik Vendt, Larsen Jensen, Ous Mellouli, Dara Torres and Kaitlin Sandeno. Golden West College is located in the coastal community of Huntington Beach, also known as “Surf City,” and is regarded as one of the most beautiful campuses in Southern California. GWC is a two-year college serving over 14,000 students on a 122-acre campus. The Rustler Aquatics Program is known nationally and internationally as one of the top 2-year programs with 15 State Championships and 49 Conference Titles. Golden West looks towards Shubert’s expertise to maintain the high standards and continued success of the Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Program. Golden West's most notable swimming alumni include Derek Gibb who swam at Auburn and Micha Burden who swam for California-Berkeley.
