Jackson specialises in British Imperial and military history and has a regional interest in sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean region. | - Dr Ashley Jackson is a historian and senior lecturer at Kings College London (KCL). Jackson specialises in British Imperial and military history and has a regional interest in sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean region. Jackson gained his master's degree at New College, Oxford in 1993 and his doctorate in 1996. He was a research fellow at Mansfield College, Oxford, a lecturer in Imperial and Commonwealth History at Oxford Brookes University and in, 2004, he joined KCL's Defence Studies Department. He holds (December 2009) several positions on military history and research bodies including the peer-reviewed journal Global War Studies, the joint King’s College London and Oxford Brookes University "International and Military Studies" seminar, the War Studies Group Asian Security and Warfare Research Group. At the Joint Services Command and Staff College (JSCSC), Jackson is Africa Subject Matter Expert and between 2006-08 he was academic director for the Intermediate Command and Staff Course (Land).
