He was elected the first Governor of Lanier in 2055. He ran unsuccessfully for President in the 2068 election losing to incumbent president Emily Gibbons. His presidential run coincided with a reorganization of the provinces forcing a special gubernatorial election in Lanier. Henault did not run for both offices and the Communist party candidate, Diego Salamanca won the race.
