abstract
| - The Conservative Party of Kirlawa held elections for the post of Chairman in 3875, after Malagasy Thatcher, the incumbent, stepped down in April of that year. Five candidates ran in the election, with Harold Lee ultimately emerging as the winner with 72.57% of the weighted vote. The result delivered the largest mandate for any post in the Conservative Party in history, as 90% of the Party membership voted for Harold Lee. Nominations opened on June 28 and closed on July 15. Seven candidates entered the contest, but two eventually withdrew, leaving the field left with five. The favourite to win was widely be Harold Lee, who received the personal endorsement of Malagasy Thatcher and a majority of the parliamentary Party. The contest was seen as merely a formality for Harold Lee to succeed the post of Chairman, whose many powers have been gradually usurped by the post of Leader. The vote was divided into three electorates, representing the Parliamentary party, party franchises and the general party membership. The votes of each electorate were weighted in the ratio of 3:2:5, the candidate with the majority of weighted votes would win the election. Otherwise, the votes will proceed to further rounds of voting using the Alternate Vote (AV) system. The result was an overwhelming victory for Harold Lee. 70% of regional franchises (weighted to 14.59%) and over 90% of the party membership (weighted to just above 45%) voted for Harold Lee. However, he did not win a majority of General Assembly members' votes. Nonetheless, he was elected as Chairman in October of that year, although he resigned in 3882 citing "personal commitments". Malagasy Thatcher was reassigned by the General Executive Committee to the post.
