| - The 1968-16 was a Pacific Coast Late Model Series (now Camping World West Series) event held at Redwood Acres Speedway on September 13, 1968. This race remains one of the most weird chapters in the series' history. Only eleven cars showed up for the race, due to heavy rain throughout the previous week (it was the smallest field in series history). Jack McCoy had to stay home, but this is what he said about the race in his book Racing's Real McCoy: "The next race was scheduled at a dirt track in Eureka, California. However, faced with either two weeks layover time in Seattle, or going home and trying to get our engine program back on track and back to Eureka, we opted to pass up the Eureka event. Hardesty won it, but it was a tough, nasty affair that turned into something akin to a mud bog, seeing that the recent rains had made the track impossible to prepare. And when the officials tried to red flag the race yet didn't offer to give their fans their money back, a near riot ensued with several of the local Indians reportedly trying to burn down the grandstand." Even more issues arise out of this race. Hardesty is only credited with one series victory, and he already won a race earlier in the year at Fresno. Also, Cliff Garner (the runner-up) was supposed to have won one race during the year. Whether this is an issue from NASCAR records remains to be seen, though we are using the best results we have available
