Vespa bicolor is the smallest species of hornet. It is known as the black sheild hornet because of the black abdomen and top of head. Eyes are a dark brown color, but the rest of the wasp is yellow. They are mistaken for vespula queens. The hornets are not wide range as they only live on one island. Vespa bicolor is known to hunt bees, but not raid the entire hive. Vespa bicolor has also been known to hunt a variety of other insects too, they are not picky eaters at all. They are a wasp that exepts cooked meat. They are not aggressive, they only act like the average vespula.
