Although it is also well known as the location of Erskine Hospital; a facility for ex-servicemen and woman that opened in 1916. This is located in an area of the town known locally as ‘old Erskine’. It is a hotspot for suicides and phones have been fitted on the bridge with direct and free access to the Samaritans Hotline.
