The Battle of Mimaomote had been led by Chōsokabe commander —equipped with 7,000 men—into the province of Iyo on the Shikoku Island, in which he had attacked Doi Kiyoyoshi, the enemy commander. Doi crossed the Mimaomote river to meet Hisatake within a fierce battle on the 21st of May, 1579. Hisatake was eventually defeated and killed, resulting in the victory of Doi Kiyoyoshi.
