In 2001, the blocks, already half empty as a result of social problems felt throughout the estate, were found to be sinking. The blocks were built on an old mineshaft and the ground had begun to give way. The buildings were announced unfit for habitation and were emptied for demolition in 2003. They were then demolished one by one by a large digger in the summer of 2004. As of 2007, the land is still undeveloped.
