This ATL deals with a possible time line in which the United States creates a horrible virus to use against the Russians should they have decided to go to war against America. It begins in 1957 when American scientists create the virus, which is stolen by the Soviets, but is accidentally unleashed upon the Earth, infecting four-fifths of the world's population and turning them into mindless, flesh-eating Zombie-like creatures. The rest of the uninfected humans try to survive and keep the diseased horde at bay in an apocalyptic event known only as "The Outbreak".

| - Maester Lucas wrings his hands: "A plague sweeps across the land, my [lady/lord]. [Your Friend] begs your aid in curing their holdings of this vile illness."
- "If I lend aid to [Your Friend], will I expose my people to infection?"
- "Exposure to the plague could prove catastrophic. Yet the only alternative is abandoning [Your Friend] to the ravaging illness."
- "Send no aid to [Your Friend] and devise a way to guard my hold from the plague."
- "Whatever the risk, we must help my friend survive the plague."
- "You possess sufficient stores and coin, my [lady/lord]. But I urge you to quarantine your own hold first, lest the plague claim us as well."
- "Groat, can my holdings remain strong and still support the ailing [Your Friend]?"
- Virulent, devastating, and quick to spread. Victims quickly succumb to fever, blistering boils, and delirium. Few survive.
