USS Aggressor (AMc-64) was an Accentor-class coastal minesweeper acquired by the U.S. Navy for the dangerous task of removing mines from minefields laid in the water to prevent ships from passing. Aggressor was laid down at Greenport, Long Island, New York, on 15 April 1941 by the Greenport Basin and Construction Company as Alliance (AMc-64); renamed Aggressor on 23 May 1941; launched on 19 July 1941; sponsored by Mrs. Arthur M. Van De Water; and placed in service at the New York Navy Yard on 24 October 1941, Lt. (jg.) P. C. Cherry, USNR, in charge.
