* File:Pictogram voting question.png Question: Would you please elaborate on the tests you intend? I don’t quite understand what you mean by “add extra fields” via MediaWiki:Common.js. We do permit testing by Testing Administrators in the MediaWiki namespace. However, unless they are of permanent benefit to this wiki, and are approved by the Active Bureaucrats and Administrators, they and their effects must be reversed immediately upon your assessing the test results. Thank you. — SpikeToronto 08:04, January 12, 2013 (UTC)
* I was referring to this on the Tardis Wiki, where templates can be preloaded from. For this, I have to change the Common.js as well as create some template pages. A preload template as well as some templates to be put in the preload template. When editing, a field appears under the edit summary field, where you can select templates to be preloaded.I think this feature is not so needed for the Admin Tools Wiki, and I am aware of the fact that I will have to revert my changes afterwards, if it's unneeded. ---ⒷⓁⓊⒺⒷⒾⓇⒹ (ʞlɐʇ) 15:14, January 12, 2013 (UTC)
* There is an alternative new article, preload method, taken from w:c:aion that does not require JS and therefore does not use Common.js Important: To see this in action, please go to and you will see how it works. * Thank you for your effort, but I have already tried this ("MediaWiki:Newarticletext"(ref)) and also "MediaWiki:Editnotice(-0)"(ref) out.The point is, that I want to preload templates for already existing pages, and if I am not mistaken clicking on one of the templates makes the pre-existing text vanish.I also tried out inserting the code of the template there, so that it will be shown and can be manually copy pasted into the editing field, but aesthetically this does not look too good. And another problem was, that the red announcement thing always appears and hiding them will require changing the css as well(ref). So in the end, I came to the conclusion that the option on the Tardis Wiki is much more neat.---ⒷⓁⓊⒺⒷⒾⓇⒹ (ʞlɐʇ) 15:06, January 14, 2013 (UTC)
* I know what you are saying re: the red notices: They can be so annoying. However, they do disappear once one clicks inside the edit window, and the edit notice remains. By the way, here at ATW, you would not create your JS directly in Common.js. Rather, you would create a JS subpage, under Common.js, and then import it into Common.js for your test. An example of this can be seen at MediaWiki:Common.js/displayClock.js. Before the other Bureaucrat processes your request, let me ask around to see if it is possible to have a preload even if there is already text on the page. I do know that it is possible when creating a new section on a discussion page. But, I’ll have to ask around for other situations. I’ll let you know what I find out. — SpikeToronto 12:08, January 15, 2013 (UTC)

* Thank you. But this option would also require changing the commons.js, wouldn't it? Also I feel like they're more easy to be overlooked, and if we have many templates on the wiki that should be placed there, it would get too stuffed. (The option on the tardis wiki has a scroll down menu). I would still like to stick with my 1st option. ---ⒷⓁⓊⒺⒷⒾⓇⒹ (ʞlɐʇ) 19:44, January 22, 2013 (UTC)
* You write the entirety of your JS as a subpage of Common.js You then import that subpage into Common.js, the import-script statement being the only change required to Common.js Take a look at our MediaWiki:Common.js and you will see what I mean. — SpikeToronto 13:27, January 24, 2013 (UTC) Yes I know that importing is better. i was more referring to what your colleague said. But however on Admin Tools Wiki I cannot edit the commons, since I haven't got the rights for it. ---ⒷⓁⓊⒺⒷⒾⓇⒹ (ʞlɐʇ) 14:06, January 24, 2013 (UTC)
