Nicodemus "Noddy" Boffin is a character in Our Mutual Friend. A dustman who worked for Old Mr. Harmon, he inherits the Harmon fortune after John Harmon's death. Being illiterate, he hires Silas Wegg to read to him, and entrusts him with the care of the Bower (Old Mr. Harmon's house); and also hires John Rokesmith as a secretary. At his wife's urging, he agrees to "go in for fashion," purchasing a fine house and all the luxuries money can buy, and sharing them with Bella Wilfer, whom they invite to live with them.
