NJIT's sports teams are called the Highlanders. The school colors are red and white, with navy. The mascot is the Highlander. NJIT's athletic teams compete in the NCAA Division I. Mens soccer participates in the Atlantic Soccer Conference while most other teams are independent Division 1. The fledgling hockey program seems to garner the most attention of all the student population.
