  • "Jon, Ella, this is your home too. The Goldfoots are your enemies. Should we heed this?"
  • "What do you think, Maester? Will Roose Bolton risk his men to defend House Goldfoot?"
  • "Bolton hardly hesitates at breaking an oath. He won't follow through on this."
  • "This is a maester's hand," Maester Lucas observes. "Bolton was fighting Stannis only days ago. No doubt he left his maester to answer his letters."
  • Rona frowns, worried. "I've heard nothing from Carellen for weeks," she admits. "I have no window into what the Boltons may be planning."
  • "It's gone too far. If we retreat, Goldfoot will retaliate," Jon says firmly, but Ella wavers. "Bolton killed King Robb. What would he do to us?"
  • "We should send Bolton our own petition, citing House Goldfoot's crimes against us."
  • "Rona? Have we heard anything from Carellen? What is Roose Bolton doing?"
  • When you return, Maester Lucas reads the letter. "The question is, does Bolton mean his promise of support? Or was it an expedient thing to say?"
