Then come out with us Wednesday evening for a pool class at Slippery Rock University. Why would you want to learn to roll? Among the reasons: * Builds self - confidence * Improves your safety in challenging paddling situations * Great way to cool down during summer trips * Makes you more relaxed on the water * Entertain others, especially land-lubbers The class starts at 7:00 PM at the Aebersold Recreation Center (ARC) pool. The cost is $8 for a one-day pass for the ARC - the class is cheap, and the water's warm! Show up a little early to register, and to get a boat (first come, first served, they supply the gear). They use whitewater boats, but the instructor assures me that the skills are the same for touring & sea kayaks. They hold the class once a week on staggered days. I plan on going to multiple classes to get good at it and get comfortable under water. If you're interested, you can meet me off the I-79 Zelienople exit and we can ride up together. More info at the SRU Web site. Bring a bathing suit, change of clothes, a lock for your locker, etc. Many people feel more comfortable using nose plugs. P.S. If you already know how to roll, you can still join us and come to practice. RSVP to this Meetup:
